Collection: 2-Person Barrel Saunas

2-Person Barrel Saunas

A 2-person barrel sauna is the smallest outdoor cabin worth building — compact enough for a patio corner or narrow side yard, but still a real traditional sauna with stones, steam and proper Finnish heat.

The barrel shape earns its place at this size. Less air volume means faster warm-up, and the curve puts the heat where you are sitting instead of collecting it at a flat ceiling.

What you are getting

  • Fast heat — a small barrel reaches temperature in 20–30 minutes, quick enough for a weeknight.
  • Small footprint — typically 5–6ft long, so a modest gravel pad or existing patio works.
  • Weather resistance — cedar and thermo-spruce both handle freeze-thaw; the round roof sheds snow with no flashing to leak.
  • Low running cost — a smaller heater on a smaller room is the cheapest traditional sauna to run.

Before you order

Check bench depth rather than barrel diameter — that is what decides whether two people sit comfortably or perch. Confirm whether the price includes the heater and stones, as barrels are often quoted as a shell. And plan the 240V run before delivery day if you are going electric.

Common questions

Can it sit on grass?

Not directly. You need level, draining ground — gravel over a compacted base, patio slabs, or a deck rated for the weight.

Wood-fired or electric at this size?

Electric is simpler and heats a small barrel quickly. Wood-fired makes sense only if the site has no power, since tending a fire for a 20-minute heat-up is a lot of effort.

Will two adults be comfortable?

Sitting, yes. To lie down you want a 6ft-plus barrel — look at 4-person barrel saunas.
