Cabin — more usable interior, room for a porch or changing room, better looking to most eyes. Slower to heat because there is more air volume, and it costs more.

  • Timber — thermo-treated spruce for stability, cedar for aroma and natural rot resistance.
  • Roof finish — check whether shingles or membrane are included; some kits stop at the deck.
  • Heater — 6–8kW electric on a dedicated 240V circuit, or wood-fired for off-grid sites.
  • Foundation — level concrete pad, slabs or a rated deck. Not bare gravel at this weight.

How long does assembly take?

Yes, these are built for four seasons. Drainage under the cabin and clearing snow load off the roof matter more than the cold itself.
