Collection: 6-Person Barrel Saunas

6-Person Barrel Saunas

A 6-person barrel sauna is a full-size outdoor cabin in the most heat-efficient shape available. The curved walls mean less air volume than a square room of the same capacity, so it comes up to temperature faster and holds an even heat from floor to ceiling.

At six-person size you get two-tier benches, which matters more than the headcount — the upper bench can run 20°F hotter, giving everyone a genuine choice.

Build and materials

Staves of cedar or thermo-treated spruce drawn tight with steel bands. Humidity cycling swells the wood and tightens the seal, so a barrel in regular use stays tighter than one left idle. The round roof sheds rain and snow without any flashing to fail.

Specifying yours

  • Length — 7ft to 8ft at this capacity. Longer barrels often include a changing porch.
  • Heater — 8kW electric on a dedicated 240V circuit, or wood-fired if the site has no power.
  • Cradles and base — level, well-drained ground. Gravel over compacted base is standard.
  • Glass front — changes how enclosed a barrel feels from inside more than any other option.

Our 6-person barrels run about $6,500 to $10,000 from SaunaLife, Golden Designs and Finnmark, shipped free to the Lower 48.

Common questions

How long does it take to heat?

30–40 minutes with an 8kW electric heater — faster than a square cabin of the same capacity thanks to the shape.

Two people or one for assembly?

Two people, most of a day. The staves go up quickly; door and heater take the time.

Does it need a permit?

Usually not for the structure under 120 sq ft, but the electrical run typically does. Check locally.
