Sauna & Cryo Hats
A sauna hat is standard equipment in Finland and Russia, and one of the cheapest upgrades to a sauna session anyone can make. Your head heats faster than the rest of you, and it is usually what ends the session before your body has had enough. Insulate it and you comfortably stay in longer.
Our range runs about $55 to $120.
Two types, two jobs
Wool sauna hats — worn dry, they insulate your head and ears from the hottest air in the room, which collects at ceiling height exactly where your head is.
Cryo hats — chilled before use, they actively cool. Useful for extending a hot session or for cold plunge work.
Getting it right
- Keep wool hats dry — a wet hat conducts heat straight to your scalp and works against you.
- Air dry between sessions and never machine wash wool.
- Cover your ears — ears burn before the rest of your head does, so a hat that sits high is not much use.
Common questions
Is this actually necessary?
Not necessary, but genuinely effective in a traditional sauna at 180°F+. Most people who try one keep using it.
Does it help in an infrared cabin?
Much less — infrared runs far cooler and there is no hot air layer at head height.
How do I clean it?
Air it out after each use. Spot clean if needed. Wool handles heat well but not machine washing.
