SaunaGear Accessories
SaunaGear covers the practical equipment that keeps a sauna working properly — thermometers, hygrometers, buckets, ladles and cleaning products. Unglamorous, and the difference between a sauna that stays good for years and one that quietly degrades.
What matters
- Thermometer and hygrometer — you cannot manage heat and humidity you are not measuring. A combined unit mounted at head height on the upper bench tells you what you are actually sitting in.
- Bucket and ladle — sized so one ladle is a proper pour. Too small and you are constantly refilling; too large and you drown the stones.
- Cleaner — purpose-made sauna cleaner rather than household detergent, which leaves residue that vaporises when the room heats.
Simple maintenance
Wipe benches after use and let the room dry with the door open. Restack heater stones once a year and replace them when they start crumbling — broken stones restrict airflow and shorten element life. Vacuum the floor occasionally. That is genuinely most of it.
Common questions
How often should I replace heater stones?
Inspect annually, replace every three to five years in regular use. Crumbling stones choke airflow through the heater.
Can I use regular cleaning products?
Better not to. Residue from household detergents vaporises at sauna temperatures. Use a product made for the job.
Do I need a hygrometer for an infrared sauna?
Not really — infrared cabins have no steam. A thermometer is still useful.
