ThermaSol has been building residential steam systems in the United States since 1958. Where a sauna runs hot and dry, a steam shower runs around 115°F at 100% humidity — a completely different experience, and one that fits into a bathroom you already have rather than a building you have to add.

Steam versus sauna

Steam — 110–120°F, saturated air, easier on the airways and popular with anyone who finds dry heat harsh. Installs into a sealed shower enclosure.

Traditional sauna — 175°F+, dry air with bursts of löyly. Needs a dedicated room.

Plenty of homes end up with both, and they complement each other more than they compete.

What a steam install needs

  • A fully sealed enclosure — vapour-proof walls, ceiling and door. This is the part that must be right.
  • Sloped ceiling so condensation runs to the walls rather than dripping on you.
  • Generator location — within pipe-run distance of the enclosure, somewhere accessible for service.
  • Dedicated circuit sized to the generator.

Common questions

Can I add steam to an existing shower?

Only if it can be properly sealed and the ceiling detail is right. Retrofits are common but the waterproofing is not optional.

What warranty applies?

ThermaSol offers a lifetime warranty on several generator lines. Authorized dealer purchase is required for it to apply, which is what you get here.

How long to heat?

Most generators produce steam within a few minutes — considerably faster than any traditional sauna.
